Hey! Bush was here.
Aug. 3rd, 2006 10:57 amBoy do I miss all the best stuff working on Third Shift. I found out early this morning that Our Nation's President and the Leader of the Free World, George W. Bush was in town yesterday.
He was here to survey the damage.
He was here to comfort those who lost everything.
He was here to make up for New Orleans.
Seriously, while there were a couple hundred houses that are probably really trashed, in the grand scheme of things, this was a minor flood. I live only a couple blocks from people who got a lot of water in their basements and the worst thing that happened to me was I had to drive home from work a different way for a couple of days. If this had happened two years ago, Bush might have called and said how sorry he was to hear about our troubles, but a personal visit? Forget it.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm happy as all get out that these people are gonna get to see FEMA 2.0 swing into action. It should be quite a show. But I just find it funny that Bush came all this way, and mostly there's nothing to see except lots of stinky carpeting out on tree lawns.
